The multi-disciplinary nature of the design of cyber-physical systems makes it hard to gain insight in the system behaviour early in the design process. Our aim is to allow the designers to analyse the integration of system components as well as the behaviour of the complete system in an early stage. This is achieved by creating abstract...

Information-Centric Networks (ICNs) facilitate in-network caching, which has amongst others the advantage of providing higher information availability than traditional IP networks. This property is very beneficial in a variety of scenarios, ranging from node mobility to network disruptions and failures. However, a clear understanding of the...

Intelligent Transportation Systems in the domain of vehicular networking, have recently been subject to rapid development. In vehicular ad hoc networks, data broadcast is one of the main communication types and its reliability is crucial for high performance applications. However, due to the lack of acknowledgment techniques in IEEE 802.11p...

Here we show a new physical-based analytical model of a-IGZO TFTs. TFTs scaling from L=200 μm to L=15 μm and fabricated on plastic foil are accurately reproduced with a unique set of parameters. The model is used to design a zero-VGS inverter. It is a valuable tool for circuit design and technology characterization. cop. 2015 IEEE.

The PELE ammunition is characterized by a low-density filling material surrounded by a high-density brittle jacket material. An analytical model describing the fragmentation of this ammunition behind a target plate is presented. This model assumes uniaxial strain in the filling and uses the RankingeHugoniot relations to calculate the material...

The principle of Inductive Power Transfer (IPT)is very old but it is rarely used for transferring power from source to load via a conductive medium. This is because normally the medium restricts the power transfer due to losses or the shielding effects. However, for low energy applications, an acceptable amount of power could be transferred from...

Piggybacking on beacons is a forwarding technique in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET) as a means to disseminate data. With this technique data is attached to and transmitted along with scheduled beacons. Nodes are assumed to beacon asynchronously. In this paper we present a first version of an analytical model that is able to accurately capture...

Most of the envisaged applications of organic electronics require a nonvolatile memory that can be programmed, erased, and read electrically. Ferroelectric field-effect transistors (FeFET) are especially suitable due to the nondestructive read-out and low power consumption. Here, an analytical model is presented that describes the charge...

The motorcycle lean (or roll) angle development is one of the main characteristics of motorcycle lateral dynamics. Control of motorcycle motions requires an accurate assessment of this quantity and for safety applications also the risk of sliding needs to be considered. Direct measurement of the roll angle and tyre slip is not available;...

This paper presents a Green's function based procedure to assess edge effects in finite wideband connected arrays. Truncation effects are more severe in broadband arrays, since the inter-element mutual coupling facilitates the propagation of edge-born waves that can become dominant over large portions of the arrays. As a consequence, the overall...

Abstract—Short-channel zinc oxide (ZnO) thin-film transistors (TFTs) are investigated in a wide range of temperatures and bias conditions. Scaling down the channel length, the TFT performance is seriously affected by contact resistances, which depend on gate voltage and temperature. To account for the contact resistances, the transistor is...

Thin-film transistors (TFTs), which use zinc oxide (ZnO) as an active layer, were fabricated and investigated in detail. The transport properties of ZnO deposited by spray pyrolysis (SP) on a TFT structure are studied in a wide range of temperatures, electrical conditions (i.e., subthreshold, above-threshold linear, and saturation regions), and...

This paper reports on the piezoelectric-microelectromechanical system micro-fabrication process and the behavior of piezoelectric stacks actuated silicon cantilevers. All oxide layers in the piezoelectric stacks, such as buffer-layer/bottom-electrode/film/top-electrode: YSZ/SrRuO\3/Pb(Zr, Ti)\3/SrRuO\3, were grown epitaxially on the Si template...

To address system goodput and energy efficiency enhancement, this paper studies packet size optimization for IEEE 802.15.4 networks. Taking into account of the CSMA-CA contention, protocol overhead, and channel condition, new analytical models are proposed to calculate the goodput and the energy consumption. Optimal packet sizes are derived from...

In the centralized polling mode in IEEE 802.16e, a base station (BS) polls mobile stations (MSs) for bandwidth reservation in one of three polling modes; unicast, multicast, or broadcast pollings. In unicast polling, the BS polls each individual MS to allow to transmit a bandwidth request packet. This paper presents an analytical model for the...

Micromesh bolometers have been used in several instruments working in the submillimeter band (e.g. [1]). The bolometers are usually placed inside a waveguide and consist of a mesh absorber, at a certain distance from a back short. The mesh is made of SiNi whose thermal conductivity is tuned to the incident power and operating temperature. The...
