Another colorimeter for studying colour vision
article
A trichromatic colorimeter of very simple design has been developed for a more extensive exploration of defective colour vision. The possibility of introduction of a mass-test for personnel selection with more quantitative information about colour-discriminating capacities was discussed.
The apparatus for the test-preparing investigation can be developed into an acceptable apparatus for mass-selection by the quick-testing method and due to the easiness of handling it. It is based on the use of a white testplate partly covered in the centre by evenly distributed holes. The mutual distances are such that the holes cannot be seen separately by the human eye. In the perforated part the resulting perception is determined by illumination of the front of the plate and of the light that comes via the holes from the illumination of a second white plate behind the testplate. This perception is compared with that of the surrounding parts. Homogeneous mixture of the components for illumination of test- and backplate is obtained with the aid of integrating spheres.
