Abstract
This chapter discusses both security and privacy threats to RFID systems, in a balanced way. We first outline the general architecture of an RFID system, the stakeholders managing the different components, and identify the specific properties of RFID systems relevant for privacy and security. We then discuss threats aimed at the tag itself, at the wireless interface betweentag andreader, andat the backoffice. We also discuss how these threats can lead to security or privacybreaches. We clarify the types of threats and their risks by discussing.
