Abstract
In the present study a previously developed weighted summation model is tested both for simultaneously and for successively presented sounds from a main battle tank (Leopard-2), gunfire (pistols and rifles), and civil road traffic. For the simultaneous presentation mode, the results obtained both with the help of a rating scale and with the method of paired comparison were excellently replicated. The two paradigms applied yielded essentially the same results. Also for the successive presentation mode, the model could accurately predict total annoyance. We conclude that the model holds both for simultaneous and for successive sounds.
