Spruijt, M. Publication year 2013 Abstract In the current work evaluation of CO2 release velocity profiles is determined using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The formation of solid CO2 particles using the rapid expansion of nozzle flow is used as a seeder particle, making the method truly nonintrusive and negates the use of special seeder equipment. Preliminary tests have been conducted on low speed large CO2 particles. High-speed release PIV experiments have been conducted for a range of storage pressures between 60 and 150 bars using a 13 mm (1/2 inch) diameter nozzle. The current paper is reporting combined research with a second paper by Dam et al. . The current investigation is a small scale experiment prior to reported mid scale experiments reported in Ahmed et al.
