Abstract
This report is a deliverable of the Joint Industry Project Cable Lifetime Monitoring (JIP CALM) funded by TKI Wind op Zee. Failures of subsea power cables used in offshore wind farms can lead to significant costs due to long outage times and high repair cost. To reduce these, JIP CALM aims at increasing the reliability of subsea cables over their complete lifetime. The first part of the report contains a guide of the state of the art of cable installation operations. For each step of installation operations, a detailed description, the risks involved, an estimated time duration and other relevant factors are provided and reviewed by various industry partners in the JIP CALM consortium.
