Abstract
Within the use of alternative methods of probabilistic analysis and coming up computers with more CPU-power, today it Is possible within a design office, to analyse structures in a probabilistic way. After a pilot Implementation of some alternative methods in an existing FE-code, some structures are analysed in this way. DependIng on the FE code, the method can be used for the analysis of different kind of structures. Structures that are analysed In a probabilistic manner are for example an orthotrope bridge deck and a geotechnical sheet pile wall. This paper describes a structure coming from the civil engineering practise, a cable stayed bridge. For a first impression the cable stay bridge study has been done with a 2-D model. Additional to the 2-D model, the probabilistic analysis of the 3-D model gives more information over the width of the structure. Also the torsion behaviour of the bridge deck is taken into account in this analysis. The results of these two models are compared
