Abstract
This article presents latest developments on mm-wave microstrip antennas in package at TNO. Two designs examples for 5G applications are presented: a 28 GHz Antenna in Package (AiP) module for mobile handset and a 26 GHz array antenna for base stations (BS), both in dual linear polarization. The AiP module consists of 2 linear arrays for broadside and end-fire radiation, with 11% relative bandwidth. The 8x8 elements BS phased array scans ±45 in both the azimuth and the elevation plane, with a 12.5% relative bandwidth. For both cases the designs have been demonstrated together with NXP analogue beamformer ICs.
