Neurophysiol., c/o Westeinde Hosp., 2512 VA The Hague, Netherlands Medisch Biologisch Laboratorium TNO Publication year 1981 Abstract Part I of this article reviewed aetiological and clinical phenomena related to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. A case history of one patient was presented together with some electro-encephalographic aspects in relation to this disease and results of computer analysis of the EEG. The slow virus concept and its implications for treatment of patients and the prevention of contamination have been discussed and attention was paid to problems arising in connection with disinfection of electrodes etc. In part II some aspects of EEGs recorded in 4 patients suffering from the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease have been discussed in more detail. Attention was paid to the intra-and inter-individual consistency of the complexes occurring in these EEGs and to their spread over the scalp. Spectra resulting from the application of discrete fast fourier transforms were discussed. The influence of flash stimulation at low frequency rates on the occurrence of complexes and on the frequency spectra was investigated.
