Abstract
During a naval mine sweeping operation, there is a risk of damage to the sweeping gear due to mine detonations. To reduce this risk, we mention five different methods to influence the actuation location of naval mines relative to a sweeping system. Three of these are discussed in more detail, using the magnetic field as influence. The first method, increasing the field strength, works in the lateral direction, but not in the forward direction. The second method, tilting the magnetic dipole moment, is limited in the amount that it can shift the actuation location. The third method, signature projection, seems promising.
