TNO Informatie- en communicatietechnologie Publication year 2007 Abstract In this paper we present an initial code exchange scheme for a transmit-reference ultra wide-band (TR-UWB) system. We exploit the facts that a TR-UWB transceiver scheme allows for simultaneous transmission and reception as well as detection and separation of distinct users with the same code even if their data packets overlap. We exploit the fact that the transmission of UWB pulses is a low power operation compared to the processing needed at the receiver side to make the initial code exchange highly energy efficient. © 2006 IEEE.
