Abstract
Main objective of the project presented in this paper is to improve the quantitative knowledge and understanding of the distribution of pore fluid pressures and fluid dynamic conditions in the subsurface of onshore and offshore Netherlands. Such knowledge and understanding is of great importance for optimizing -responsible -exploration and use of the subsurface, including safe and cost-effective drilling. The improved knowledge and understanding is presented as an integrated pressure information system for the onshore and offshore Netherlands, including data and information of 1100 boreholes. The system provides a quality-controlled integrated database of measured pressures from pressure tests, mudweights, leak-off pressures, temperatures, chemical analyses of formation water, and up-to-date lithostratigraphy and lithology. In addition it includes a regional interpretation for the onshore and offshore Netherlands based on coupling of the pressure data, stress field, detailed geological framework and history. These interpretations are visualised in plots, maps and cross-sections. The current project focusses on predepletion original pressures and the system is developed using mainly public information from exploration and appraisal wells.
