Publication year 1983 Abstract Measurements of average normalized backscatter made from a platform in the North Sea 10 km off the Dutch coast are reported here. The measurements provide information on the dependency of X band backscatter on grazing angle, wind speed, and look direction. It has been found that for grazing angles under 50o the dependency of backscatter on wind speed is highly sensitive to polarization and look direction. Also an unexplained difference between ground-based and airborne measurements was observed. - Author Subject backscattergrazing anglelook directionNorth Seapolarizationwind speedRadarOceanography To reference this document use: http://resolver.tudelft.nl/uuid:3bc92f09-5141-4269-866b-6978d1dc4a85 DOI https://doi.org/10.1029/jc088ic14p09785 TNO identifier 229439 Source Journal of Geophysical Research, 88 (88), 9785-9791 Document type article Files PDF loor-1983-tower.pdf
