Abstract
From August 24-29, 2003 in Seoul, Korea the XVth Triennial Congress of the International Ergonomics Association and the 7th Joint Conference of Ergonomics Society of Korea / Japan Ergonomics Society were held. The central theme was "Ergonomics in the digital age". In this paper it is shown how a team of designers, drivers and ergonomic experts work together. They design a comfortable working environment for the driver, which is safe for the public. Mock-ups and test rides are used to enable discussions on the optimal design. These appeared to be essential as it lead to modifications of the design. The final mock-up was evaluated positively by the drivers and it is expected that the final tram will be more safe and comfortable due to the participatory approach.
